We notice when the leaves change colors
and we dram of revolving kaleidoscopes
We watch as streams of cars flow by
and we recall days of rolling trolleys.
Let the clouds move their formations
and we see a zoo of parading animals
Let the frothy waves crash upon the beach
and we imagine throngs of immigrants arriving.
The soft rose petals die and hit the table
we recall days of grief for loved ones past
The rainbow arcs in the sky after rain
we watch as humanity's hope rises.
Lovely children running through flowers
and we visualize the future as lovely and energetic
Cats playing with mom's yarn
and we pretend that happiness abounds.
Lovers bundled against rain in a doorway
We see eternity in their sparkling eyes
A dark gray aging headstone in the shadows
we remember each promise to live alive.
For we are the observers of life and beauty
We are the saviors of imagination
We are the guardians that keep dreams alive and hope flowing
We are the keepers of the flame of love.
